Bio

Hi, I’m Jeanine Lee - my close friends call me “Lee”. I've got some deep roots in hip hop and street culture. Kicked off my career as a mechanical engineer and even ran a quarterly street culture mag that went worldwide. But when that gig wrapped, I found myself crunching numbers in corporate accounting.

Fast forward to 2012, when I landed in Brooklyn and felt the urge to get back to my roots. That's when I dove headfirst into startup finance and systems, helping founders launch some seriously cool products. Then, in 2019, I switched gears again and jumped into technology and product management, playing a key role in launching a company's first web product and leading the development of their first client technology platform. During my time working with early-stage companies, I worked with some of startups most innovative teams at Casper Sleep, Biolite, Genius.com, Squire, Planet Labs, Universal Standard, Valence and Olipop to name just a few.

Beyond the office, I continued to pursue my passion for street culture and started photographing street art while I was on an around the world in a year trip of a lifetime. On this trip I discovered street art in every corner of the globe and later developed a passion project, Spotted, mapping street art around the world in 2017. Here my interest in AI developed as I explored ways to rapidly detect and label public images containing street art on the web.

I spend my free time parenting, woodworking, and learning the traditional craft of timber framing and other natural building methods.
